The ego is the door to spirit

The brain has two sides to it: the left side and the right one 🙂

The human has two eyes to it. Two ears. Two nostrils. Two hands, two legs.

One head, one mouth and one central case, which makes the body.

Somehow something hints at the idea that in order for our body to function properly in this world we need both of our brain hemispheres, both of our eyes, ears, legs and arms. Thus.. the central trunk which is our body, grows and uses both of its branches – the left one and the right one.

Both the good and the bad. Both the pain and the pleasure. Both the fear and the hope.

Both the ego and the spirit.

So what is this ego, after all ?

Through my own experience, I could say that we can understand much of the nature of reality by understanding the brain. Let’s take a closer look at this small einsteinic type figure from the top of our head. The brain has two hemispheres to it. Agreed? Agreed.

The left hemisphere is where reality gets serious. Where we have plans, and notions, and mathematics .. and rockets going to the moon. The left hemisphere is where we create divisions, labels, calculus, systems, definitions, notions, language – all in all – linear piece by piece experience.

The right hemisphere is where reality goes.. who the hell knows where, but we sure know the drinks are great, the leprechauns tell the funniest stories, Bob Marley eats and smokes a pink cloud all at the same time.. and the sirens are aways available and .. obedient! Ha! :))) All in all crazy and fun, just how we like it.

Now.. if the right side of the brain would be a cat, the left side of the brain would be a dog. A bulldog. Seriously now. Any dog, you choose :))

Dogs have a more obedient nature, tend to have a sense of hierarchy and tend to easily be able to understand a bit more about notions and rules. Cats.. well.. we all know that story :))

So let’s think of creative Marley, the cat. And serious Bob, the dog. You pick the race and color :))

Marley usually knows its thing, it likes playing, fussing and cuddling .. also sleeping a lot and caring less for atomic bombs or anyone annoying :))

Bob usually winks its tail sniffing its master out, waiting for a fetch or the next training into tracking down large stashes of coke, helping Ray Charles cross the street .. and.. serious stuff like that. All in all.. Bob loves its trainings, and btw.. he’s a bit of a reward junkie.. but refrain from mentioning this to him.

Marley.. well, who knows what this one likes for sure.. we just know that currently she’s sleeping and purring in our favourite chair while sniffing some rainbows at an astral gathering.

Both Bob and Marley love to play, to enjoy life and to fuss around – the difference here is that one is much more self driven and one much more driven by others.

Guess who’s who?

Bob, the dog, stands for the left hemisphere of our brain, which is also the place our ego personality is being fostered. Marley stands for the right hemisphere of our brain, which is also the gate or portal to our spirited nature. Together they make for some serious plays! 😀

When left unsupervised Bob will reign over the yard growling, while Marley will sleep uncaring over the roof. Meaning: the dog / ego covers the material world, while the cat strolls through the heights of the spirit or the windows of neighbours.

Bob offers security to the house, it closely accompanies its master whenever and wherever, being the best of friends and most loyal of protectors.

Marley continues to puff on that pink stash.. while with a half sleeping eye open .. sends rainbows and rivers of magic sparks over the house, the environment, including to its pet: the owner.

When unattended and not fed properly serious Bob gets extremely serious and starts defending the territory in such an exemplary way and with such a wet long looking eyes, that even Zeus could not resist to throw him a bone (preferably a t one) and a fetch. Yeah. A bit of a reward junkie and a grumpy thing when hungry, this Bob. As much as the hunger increases so it does the zealously of Bob to offer such an exemplary protection of the yard – aka: material world – that Marley has almost no other thing to do that to continue puffing rainbows from the roof.

This is how the ego and the spirit play in our day to day life, as well.

The ego is our protective Bob. The ego’s main purpose is to serve us and to live for us with the support of our direct attention. The spirit’s main purpose is to watch over us, inspire us and … care less about us :)) CUT! Again! […] The spirit’s main purpose is to watch over us, inspire us and be there even in times where we don’t see it that much (cause it’s strolling through the windows of the neighbours, haha :)) ).

The left hemisphere of the brain is where our ego resides. Our constructed identity and personality, which works 24/7 to defend and protect us, to keep us alive in this reality and to be our loyal faithful companion and friend. This is what the ego is: our truest friend and partner.

The right hemisphere of the brain is where our spirit and spirited nature resides. Our source for true inspiration, creativity and self driven personality – which makes us be able to sit alone with ourselves for hours and be stonely entertained, laugh and tell jokes to the wind, write poetry, dance around, ask to be hugged or care less about anyone’s opinion. Our spirit is the essence of the child within, uniting us with the knowledge and wiseness of the cosmos. A supreme intelligent, careless and wild child.

We could also associate the left side of the brain with our masculine energy, our protective, intellectual and luminous side (shining and wanting to be seen) … that ignites the material world and helps us perceive reality: the conscious. The right side of the brain we can associate it with our feminine energy, our pool of innate creativity, inspiration and mostly: uncharted, unknown territory. The fertile darkness. The unconscious.

Bob and Marley and the super spinning dance of love 🙂

Now. When all is well and the nutritious food of our attention caresses both Bob and Marley.. Bob feels safe, well fed and with the optimal dosage of spoiledness on board.. it quickly learns to allow Marley in the ground territory, making room for her .. and even more: defend, protect and play with her.

So.. when the neutral stream of life which comes into our brain – which is our life force or nutritious awareness – correctly feeds our left side of the brain : the logical, reasonable, protective and math savy side – aka: the ego – the ego loosens up on its fear and becomes playful, protective and inviting of the spirit. More so: through the ego the spirit can decent from the roof to the ground, from the immaterial to the material, from the unconscious to the conscious.

The ego is our door to spirit !

Most people, in our current hype of pop spiritual de- (*caugh) volution have tried is killing or starving Bob – the ego – in the hope that this would make Marley descent. Without realising that in doing so not only that the house remained un-secured and exposed to outside threats but also that they lost and hurt their faithful loving companion: Bob. Without its companion the human became scared and lonely, and lost track of the real magic that lies in the pulse of the material world. Plus, the guilt for starving and hurting Bob, imprisoning him into a dark corner of the yard, now eats their conscience out, more and more, their unconscious guilt now transforming Bob from the loving and faithful husk to a hungry and devious warewolf ready to attack them in their sleep. It’s only their own unconscious guilt that hunts their mind with such terrifying nightmares.

While Marley.. well, we all know how cats are. They come and go :)) And good luck making those do what you want :))

Some similar hazardous things can happen for people who fill their yard with dogs, but fear the irrational presence of cats. Who feed, caress and spoil Bob to such extent that no Marley and no other cat could ever approach that house. They gain maximum security at the expense of loosing touch with creativity, ingeniosity .. and ultimately: life itself.

So really folks, there is a reason for why our brain has both a left side and a right one. Both logic and emotion. Both male and female. Both light and dark. Both conscious and unconscious. Both ego and spirit. There is a reason for why we have two eyes, two years, two hands, two nostrils .. and one mouth. One head and one central body. To properly asses reality – as a human being – we need to optimally feed both our reason and both our imagination, equally. Both our selfish nature and our selfless one. Both our body and our soul.

Once these two wheels are fed properly they become the best of friends and both your body (the material world) and your soul (the energetic world) are finally secured and thriving as one.
